Laparoscopic Course gets on the Train!

Laparoscopic-Course-gets-on-the-Train

Cementing our links with SRA developments, who manufacture the LOTUS harmonic scalpel, in December 2015 we took our delegates to their headquarters near Exeter on the Train. Leaving London on the Thursday night we stayed overnight in Exeter before travelling to Bremridge House.

This building was converted from the Bremridge Farm outbuildings in 1994 when SRA needed premises for R&D and production. The company has prospered and expanded its product range and in May 2015 officially opened their surgical skills lab on this site which we trained in for the day.

For our course this was a real advance as at Chelsea and Westminster we only have facilities to use dry lab material in the Trainers. At Bremridge we had access to wet lab models and the LOTUS harmonic scalpel as well as all the usual instruments.

This experience in the skills lab allowed our trainees use more realistic models and we able to teach new techniques and skills. Feed back from the trainees was excellent and we plan to repeat the trip in June/July 2016. We would like to thanks to SRA developments for sponsoring this trip.
